Hay, Hay Donna Hay #13: Lime Mint Sorbet

Laura from EAT DRINK LIVE won the 12th round of HHDH, an event created by Barbara, with her Mini Caesar Salad Bites. Because of the beautiful weather, she was thinking of sorbets for the 13th round. I'm pleased with that, so I had a wonderful excuse to buy the ice cream maker I longed for. It's hot and humid and I was craving for a refreshment. I chose the combination of mint and lime and present

Lime Mint Sorbet

Very refreshing and delicious! To prevent the sorbet for melting too quick I served it in an ice bowl.

Title: Lime Mint Sorbet
Categories: Ice Cream, Sorbet, Dessert
Yield: 1 Recipe

Ingredients

200ml Water
80grams Sugar or more to taste
   Handfull fresh mint
100ml Fresh lime juice; about 2 to 3 limes

Directions

In a small saucepan combine the sugar and water, bring the mixture to a boil, stirring until the sugar is dissolved, and remove from heat. Let syrup cool. In a blender puree mint and syrup. Stir in the lime juice, and transfer mixture to a bowl through a fine sieve. Let chill, covered until cold, about 1 hour. Freeze according to instructions of your ice cream maker.

If you don't own an ice cream maker, transfer to a shallow freezing container and freeze covered for 5 to 6 hours at - 18°C. Stir with a fork every now and then to bring the frozen layers inwards. Warm for 10 minutes in the fridge before serving.

* My version is very refreshing and delicious. I can't share the opinion of the first review.

Ulrike, welche Marke hast Du denn? Ich wollte mir die von Megamix (?) kaufen, da braucht man das Eis nicht in den Kühlschrank zu stellen nachher, die macht alles.
Macht KitchenAid denn Eismaschinen?
ostwestwind - 2007/06/22 18:51

Ja, schau hier, aber ohne Kompressor!

I love the excuse to buy an ice cream maker. I wish I'd thought of it. Lime mint sounds so refreshing. Thanks for participating in HHDD.
