Reid of 'Ono Kine Grindz
started his blog to participate IMBB #3. Now he hosts the SHF20 and IMBB 27 event entitled "The Joy of Soy". Alberto at Il Forno called this joint blogging event of MBB27 + SHF 20 in his announcement 27+20=47 soy beans.
I have to admit that I am not very fond of the taste of soy milk, soy curd, tofu. These products smell and taste fusty for me. I tried them more them once and they don't agree with me. And I always have doubts if the soy products are free of genetically modified soy.
But the cookbook "Beans, peas, lentil & co" I bought for the German blog event pulses had an interesting recipe, which combines soy beans and quark. For this event I bought organic - and hopefully free of any genetically modified amounts - soy beans and tried the


The soy beans are cooked with honey and carob powder, and the flavour went into the beans. I'm bound to say delicious.

Title: Fruity quark with soy beans

75 grams Soy beans
3-4 tablesp. Honey
500 grams Quark
4-5 tablesp. Milk
1 Banana
200 grams Strawberries
1 Apple
4 Nectarines
1 tablesp. Carob powder, sifted

Soak soybeans in 375 ml water. Discard the liquid. In a
pressurecooker bring soybeans with 375 water to a boil, add 1
tablespoon oil and close the lid. Cook for 23 minutes and let cool
for 7 minutes.

Drain the cooked soy beans and dry with a kitchen towel if needed.

Warm honey with the carob powder an add the soy beans. Simmer for 4
to 5 minutes. Remove the soy beans from the honey. Mix the quark">quark
with milk. Mash the banana and fold into the quark. Mash some
strawberries and cut others into slices. Grate the apple, cut the
nectarines into small dices. Fold fruit and soy beans into the quark
and serve immediately
